As a married couple, Hailey and Justin Bieber notably spend an exorbitant amount of time together — making appearances at parties, celebrity friend hangouts, business events, and traveling the world together — and yet they never seem to be headed in the same direction sartorially.
Time and time again, Hailey and Justin Bieber have been spotted together wearing, ehm, starkly different ensembles and the masses have questions: Is Justin consistently underdressed? Or is Hailey a devoted over-dresser? We don’t know just yet, but we do have a stacked case ready for investigation. (Though, word to Oscar Wilde, you can never be overdressed!)
Hailey Bieber’s style, mainly by way of Dani Michelle, has evolved a lot over the years. What once was reigning by simplified generic outfits is now starting to feel like an opulent display of normcore. Meanwhile, notable Grammy-award-winning artist Justin loves to dress like he’s a perpetual C+ student at university being forced to attend an 8 a.m. class.
Below, we’ve formed a definitive outline of all the times the Bieber brigade has left the house dressed like they are going to separate functions to answer the people’s questions once and for all. Grab a snack and let’s dive in.
Exhibit A:
Up first is our most recent sartorial infraction. On August 28, 2023, the Biebers were in New York celebrating the launch of Hailey’s latest Rhode beauty drop, the Strawberry Peptide Lip Treatment. Staying faithful to her “Strawberry Girl Summer” agenda, Hailey opted for a red color-coordinated look with an Ermanno Scervino as the centerpiece.
On the other hand, Mister Bieber stepped out in a matching grey sweatsuit with no undershirt, a pink hat, and a pair of his own yellow Crocs. Now, if Justin is just attending this event as moral support for his wife, we have to accept it, but some jeans and a button-up would’ve been just as suitable.

Justin Bieber Shares His Top Inspirations
This from December 7, 2022, is one of my personal favorite couple moments because of how purely chaotic it is. Hailey is polished, serving elegance in a long black fur coat and mini dress. Now, Justin went a little “Alien Superstar,” wearing oversized goggle-like sunglasses with a striped cardigan.
In this instance, Hailey looks like an esteemed businesswoman picking up her Nolita Dirtbag boyfriend from a party. And honestly? That’s more or less what it was. The couple was in the city because Hailey was one of the honorees at the Beauty Inc Awards. Justin tagged along to show his support. In this instance, he’s just Ken.
Exhibit C:
Surprisingly, the juxtaposition from July 19, 2023, isn’t as terrifying as the others on the list. This simply looks like every TikTok influencer going out with their rockstar boyfriend. Justin isn’t far from being aligned with his wife for this romantic dinner at NYC’s L’Artusi.
Nonetheless, they are still very much not attending the same event. Swapping out the ribbed tank top for a fun blouse would’ve put them on the same page, but until then, they will stay in different chapters. We almost made it, but it has to be said this is one of Hailey’s simplest date night looks.
Exhibit D:
Justin isn’t wearing slippers in this one from January 14, 2023, so I feel obligated to count our small wins. While he’s definitely not as dressed down as he normally is, he still exists outside of what’s acceptable when your girlfriend is wearing Schiaparelli.
I will say Justin does look somewhat stylish here. I think we’re starting to get somewhere outfit-wise, and the fur coat elevates this look a lot. And while Justin no longer looks like he’s rushing out the door to grab the morning paper, Hailey went for an entirely different aesthetic. It’s casual street style versus literal Sandy from Grease.
Exhibit E:
Our final incriminating piece of evidence is from January 06, 2023, and features this striped suit set from Hailey and Justin’s cozy Drew slippers. Mister Bieber will take any opportunity to promote his clothing brand and, honestly, I respect it. While we appreciate his marketing efforts, we still cannot understand how these two could potentially be headed to the same event. Hailey is on her way to a job interview while Justin is starring in an Avril Lavigne music video. (Hello, Sk8r boy!)
In Conclusion
The Biebers might never be attending the same event clothing-wise, but they’ve managed to stick together through the millions of paparazzi photos, which further leans into our many theories. The two being: Justin is here because he’s contractually obliged. Or — and stay with me on this one — Justin and Hailey have an ultra-niche insider joke where Justin dresses totally opposite of Hailey so they have something to laugh about after a long evening of being perceived by the general public. It would make sense, right?
