Speaking to Good Morning Britain hosts Kate Garraway and Alex Beresford, Andrea said that Dennis’ death was like anyone losing a friend.

She went on to say: “Yes, I have them right here. The glasses. You have to think about it as a normal friendship. Forget about all those killings, forget about the profanity of those crimes.

“To me he was just a friend. Is it not normal to have a memory of a friend who passed away?”

Dennis Nilsen.

Speaking about how he was IRL, Andrea, 30, from the Czech Republic, said he was ‘ordinary’, adding: “He came across as a normal old man. He was a bit annoyed because I was late for a visit.

“But afterwards he could see I was nervous and he did everything he could to make me feel comfortable – joking around, he was laughing. He was just friendly.

“He came across as a nice person. I know it’s odd in the context, but yeah he was.”

She went on to reveal that watching the ITV drama, Des, was like ‘seeing a ghost’.

David Tennant has got to win some awards for his portrayal of the serial killer Dennis Nilsen. Such good acting but scary at the same time :scream: Daniel Mays brilliant too!! #Des @ITV #DennisNilsen- Lee Jay (@LeeJordo1) September 16, 2020

One particularly excited viewer said: “Please just give David Tennant the NTA, the BAFTA, the Oscar and any other award which involves acting, because he deserves them all.”

Speaking about the killer, Tennant recently told LADbible he felt it was ‘right and proper’ that Nilsen died before the series aired.

He said: “After he was arrested, Dennis Nilsen became obsessed with was the legend of ‘Des’ – the reputation that he left behind. Whenever he slipped out of public consciousness, there was almost a sense that he wanted to get back into it. That’s why I’m relieved he’s not alive.

“I would hate for this to go out and for him to be sitting in some cell somewhere imaging we were in any way glorifying him. I’m sure he would have complained about what we said and everything we did.

“At the same time, he would have been rather smugly pleased he was on television. I think it’s right and proper it’s transmitting after he’s gone.”
