Banner Health taps Atlantic Health System exec as president, COO

Amy Perry

Banner Health named Amy Perry president and chief operating officer on Wednesday, with the former Atlantic Health System executive preparing to assume the new role November 1.

Perry currently serves as head of Morristown, New Jersey-based Atlantic Health’s hospital division and executive vice president of care delivery, where she oversees operations across the company’s more than 400 sites of care. Those include medical centers, home health, hospice, adult day care services, along with the organization’s information technology and innovation efforts. She will succeed Banner Health COO Becky Kuhn, whose previously-announced retirement will be effective November 3. Phoenix, Arizona-based Banner Health is an integrated delivery system that provides care in six states and officials say it is one of the largest, secular not-for-profit health systems in the nation. In 2020, Banner Health generated $10.4 billion in revenue.

“I am very pleased to welcome Amy Perry to our organization,” Banner Health CEO Peter Fine said in a statement. “She brings broad operational experience and a keen understanding of the dynamic changes in our industry.”

During her four years at Atlantic Health, Perry helped the system achieve record-setting quality and financial results, supported the development and implementation of a five-year strategic plan and led the expansion of medical education and research revenue.

Prior to joining Atlantic Health, Perry served as executive vice president of Baltimore-based LifeBridge Health and, at the same time, served as president of Sinai Hospital, which is Maryland’s largest independent academic and research hospital.

Perry also worked for 20 years at Mount Sinai Medical Center in Miami Beach, Florida, where she served in such roles as chief operating officer, vice president of administration and head of the health system’s foundation.

She was named a Top 25 Women Leader by Modern Healthcare in 2021 and one of the Top 100 Most Influential People in Healthcare in 2020.

“I feel fortunate to join such an innovative and growing organization that puts patients first,” Perry said in a statement. “I’m looking forward to working with Peter Fine and the entire Banner team who have built a forward-thinking, value-based health delivery system.”
