Insurer launches commercial network comprised of Cleveland Clinic, Summa

Cleveland Clinic

SummaCare, Summa Health’s health insurance company, is launching a new commercial network comprised of Summa, the Cleveland Clinic and Akron Children’s Hospital, effective Oct. 1, according to a news release.

The new network, known as the Preferred Choice Network, will provide members with access to about 14,000 physicians and providers and 20 facilities across the Northeast Ohio locations of all three health care organizations.

Cleveland Clinic Akron General is included in the Preferred Choice Network, granting members access to both of Akron’s Level 1 adult trauma centers, according to the release.

“This offering would not be possible without collaboration between SummaCare, Summa Health, Cleveland Clinic and Akron Children’s Hospital,” said Bill Epling, SummaCare president, in a provided statement. “The Preferred Choice Network provides a high quality, cost-competitive network across northeast Ohio. Equally important, it underscores our shared desire to provide our members with access to the very best healthcare across the region.”

This announcement follows another recent collaboration between the Clinic and SummaCare. In early August, the Clinic joined SummaCare’s Medicare Advantage provider network, offering those members access to about 6,000 Clinic physicians and providers in the region.
