Lee Jung Jae Reportedly Earns THIS Much in ‘Squid Game’ Season 2
While casting issues for the highly anticipated K-drama created a huge buzz, Lee Jung Jae’s salary per episode is also garnering attention.
In a report cited by Dispatch, the 50-year-old top star asked for over 1 million dollars in appearance fees per episode for the Netflix series.
The media outlet claimed that the streaming giant “cannot afford to overlook Lee Jung Jae’s request.”
With this, it only means that Lee Jung Jae’s salary in “Squid Game” season 2 could reach a total of over 13 million dollars, since the sequel has 13 episodes in total.
Following Dispatch’s claims regarding Lee Jung Jae’s salary, Netflix has yet to address the rumors regarding his appearance fee.
Amid the rumors regarding his appearance fee, this is not the first time that the actor’s salary per episode has been brought up by the media.
During the height of the “Squid Game” mania in 2022, reports claimed that the top star earned an estimated 3.1 million USD as the show’s lead star.
However, considering the revenue of the series, not to mention that it is Netflix’s most popular series yet, as well as Lee Jung Jae’s record-breaking win at the Emmy Awards 2022, it is safe to say that the South Korean star totally deserved the 1 million USD per episode.
Was Lee Jung Jae Behind BIGBANG’s T.O.P. Casting in ‘Squid Game’ Season 2?
Besides Lee Jung Jae’s salary in “Squid Game,” the award-winning star made headlines after helping his good friend, BIGBANG’s T.O.P., join the sequel.
It was after Netflix officially confirmed that the K-pop star, whose real name is Choi Seung Hyun, was introduced as one of the cast members, joining Park Gyu Young, Lee Jin Wook, and more.
However, as mentioned by Dispatch, Lee Jung Jae was the reason why the singer-actor was included in the second season and “was heavily involved in the recruitment” of the K-pop star.
However, the actor’s agency, Artist Company, clarified the issue and denied Lee Jung Jae’s involvement with the casting.
As mentioned by a media outlet, the label shared that “the casting of a project is up to the director and production company.”
