I think we can all agree that Adam Sandler was robbed at this year’s Oscars. Robbed. But he may very well have come good on his promise of making a truly awful movie as payback. Here’s the trailer:
Back in December 2019, Sandler appeared on The Howard Stern Show and discussed the likelihood of him receiving a career-first Oscar nomination for his starring role in Uncut Gems.
He jokingly told Stern: “If I don’t get it, I’m going to f***ing come back and do one again that is so bad on purpose just to make you all pay.That’s how I get them.”

Well… the trailer for the comedian’s latest movie, Hubie Halloween, has just landed, and fans have all been saying the same thing: this is Sandler’s revenge.

The ‘hilarious family film’ centres on Hubie Dubois (Sandler), a simple soul who just wants to make sure everyone is enjoying themselves safely this Halloween. And while it’s usually a thankless task for poor Hubie, this year is different.

The official synopsis says: “Hubie Dubois (Adam Sandler) thanklessly spends every Halloween making sure the residents of his hometown, Salem, celebrate safely and play by the rules.

“But this year, an escaped criminal and a mysterious new neighbor have Hubie on high alert. When people start disappearing, it’s up to Hubie to convince the police (Kevin James, Kenan Thompson) and townsfolk that the monsters are real, and only he can stop them.”
If you needed a reason to watch it other than this, the movie is also packed full of stars, including Ray Liotta, Steve Buscemi, Julie Bowen, and Maya Rudolph. So there’s that.

For the record, I think Hubie Halloween looks brilliant, and it will be available to watch from 7 October.
