MANILA, Philippines—Filipinos have been recognized by many global pageant followers as some of the most enthusiastic in showing their support to beauty queens. And this observation will once again be tested as the Miss Grand International competition rolls out its 2023 edition.
The photos of this year’s delegates have already been posted on the international pageant’s Facebook page, and fans are encouraged to actively rally behind their respective bets by engaging with their chosen delegate’s dedicated image.
ALV Pageant Circle, organizer of the Miss Grand Philippines [MGPH] pageant, is inviting Filipino pageant followers to show their support for Filipino bet Nikki De Moura by liking her photo on the official Miss Grand International Facebook page, and sharing it, too.
“We hope you can help us in ensuring Nikki’s chances for victory in the forthcoming Miss Grand International pageant next month. Sharing and liking this pic will earn points which will play a crucial role in the final tally.” the MGPH team said in its message to media members.
Only “likes” will be taken into consideration, and no other Facebook reactions on the image, including “heart,” will be counted. “Let’s all rally for her win!” MGPH continued.
The 19-year-old model and pageant veteran is aiming to score the Philippines’ first victory in the 11-year-old competition mounted by Thai organizer Nawat Itsaragrisil. No Filipino competitor has ever captured the title, with the highest finish only at second place, courtesy of Nicole Cordovez in 2016 and Samantha Bernardo in 2020.
De Moura, a Brazilian-Filipino model from Cagayan de Oro City, edged out 29 other aspirants in the national competition. Before vying for the Miss Grand Philippines title, she was crowned Miss Teen Philippines in 2019 at the age of 15. In 2021, at 17, she joined the Asia-wide reality modeling competition “Supermodel Me” where she finished second.
The 2023 Miss Grand International coronation night will be held at the Phu Tho Indoor Stadium in Ho Chi Minh City in Vietnam on Oct. 25. Isabella Menin from Brazil will crown her successor at the culmination of the ceremony.
