JK Labajo revealed that his hit song “Ere,” which made waves as the first Filipino track to debut on Spotify’s global chart, was inspired by his breakup with beauty queen-model Maureen Wroblewitz.
“Ere” was written and produced by Labajo which was released in August 2023. The track became a smash hit, with its passionate cursing in the chorus gaining attention among netizens.
“Kung hindi obvious, ewan ko na lang (If it’s not obvious, I don’t know what to say). I’m not really hiding anything. It’s the super given thing that the album [and song] itself is about my breakup,” Labajo told TV Patrol during a brief interview.
The singer-actor said “Ere” is one of the songs he made about a “relationship that ended,” while referring to Wroblewitz.
“‘Ere’ is one of the songs I made about my relationship that ended, so which part of the song? The whole part of the song,” he said.
Labajo and Wroblewitz, who reportedly got together in 2017, made their relationship public in 2019. They confirmed their split in separate statements in June 2022.
In a Tiktok video, the “Asia’s Next Top Model” alum confessed that her split with Labajo was “messy” and that she sacrificed her “beliefs and values” to make their relationship work. She is currently in a relationship with fellow model Noah Steinbuch.
