Confession: The recently concluded Asia Artist Awards 2023 may be finished, but we’re still not over it! Held at the Philippine Arena in Bulacan, the awards show was historic for many reasons. First, it was the first time that a South Korean awards show was held in the country, and second, since it was attended by both South Korean and Pinoy celebs and artists, we got to see the best interactions both on the red carpet and on the actual awards show!
Melai Cantiveros, one of the show’s local attendees, was undoubtedly the ~*main event*~ of the night. The comedienne—who was one of the recipients of the AAA Best Actor award—stole the show with her wit and antics that only made us laugh, but even had the South Korean celebs and idols present at the event chuckling with us! Fans were cheering for Melai as she went onstage to accept her Best Actor award, and Seungkwan from SEVENTEEN couldn’t help but chant “Melai” along with them.

Zhao Hao of ZEROBASEONE was also spotted chanting “Melai” along with the crowd!
NewJeans were spotted *cheering* when they heard their group’s name in Melai’s interview with one of the show’s hosts, Wonyoung. Presenting: the newest members of the Melainatics fan club, lol!
Bang Chan from Stray Kids couldn’t help but LOL during Melai’s acceptance speech. Same, Chan, same.
Chanty of Lapillus was seen laughing in the background during Melai’s interview with Wonyoung. No doubt she would get the *kanal humor* of Melai—she’s one of us, after all!
Melai can confidently say: “Boys at school never looked at me, but Kim Seon Ho, Suho, and Lee Jun Ho did.” Sana all!
