Selena Gomez is taking a social media break once again to spend more time with her loved ones.
The Rare Beauty founder announced on her Instagram story on Wednesday, Jan. 10 that she will be staying off from social media for a while.
“I’m off social for a while. I’m focusing on what really matters,” she wrote, showing a photo of her beau, producer Benny Blanco playing with two children.
Gomez’s announcement comes after she made headlines with Taylor Swift for allegedly gossiping about Timothée Chalamet and Kylie Jenner. She set the record straight about this, saying they were talking about friends who hooked up: “Not that that’s anyone’s business.”
In October 2023, the Only Murders in the Building took a social media time out amid the height of the attacks of Israel in Gaza, saying that her “heart breaks to see all the horror, hate, violence and terror that’s going on in the world.”
“People being tortured and killed or any act of hate towards any one group is horrific,” Gomez previously wrote, stressing that everyone needs to “protect ALL people, especially children,” and then calling for stopping violence for good.
“I’m sorry if my words will never be enough for everyone or a hashtag, I just can’t stand by innocent people getting hurt. That’s what makes me sick,” she continued.
“I wish I could change the world. But a post won’t,” she concluded.
The Good For You singer also went on hiatus on social media in February 2023. Her longest break was from September 2018 to January 2022 due to negative comments.
Apart from her career as an actress, singer, and entrepreneur, Gomez recently confirmed her relationship with Benny Blanco.
