There has been a lot of anticipation surrounding the release of season 3 of Euphoria, but Jacob Elordi is right about the problem it faces. Elordi, who plays the primary antagonist in Euphoria, is well-known for his roles in Saltburn, Priscilla, and The Kissing Booth. His character’s toxic relationship with Maddy Perez is one of the most captivating elements of Euphoria and serves as a cautionary tale for viewers about domestic abuse. Though Nate Jacobs is a complicated and troubled character, Elordi does a great job of portraying him and has been commended for his impressive acting range.
Euphoria, as a whole, has also received high praise and viewers have been eagerly awaiting the release of the third season. Due to the writer and actor strikes that took place in 2003, Max has confirmed that season 3 of Euphoria will begin production in 2024. That means that the season won’t be releasing until 2025, which is a significant delay from the timeline that was originally expected. Aside from viewers having to wait for longer to see the Euphoria cast on their screens again, this delay creates a major problem for season 3, which Jacob Elordi has recognized.
Euphoria season 2 is so focused on redeeming Nate Jacobs that it doesn’t realize that it may not be necessary for his character in the first place.
Jacob Elordi Recognizes The Euphoria Characters Won’t Look Like They’re In High School Anymore
In an interview on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon from January 18, 2024, Jacob Elordi shared that he hopes that production for the upcoming season 3 of Euphoria happens soon. His reasoning for this wish comes from the fact that he, otherwise, will have a “bad back walking down the hallway“. While kidding, Elordi’s comment sheds light on one of the biggest problems that season 3 of Euphoria faces.
Because Euphoria season 3 isn’t coming out until 2025, the cast will be and look much older than they did in the first and second season. For example, Zendaya was 23 years old when the show started and will be 29 by the time season 3 is released. Because of the release plan, Euphoria is now at risk of repeating one of Hollywood’s biggest mistakes. The issue that plagues so many projects about high school students is that the actors simply do not look like they are of that age. This makes the project feel unauthentic, and Euphoria will need to put measures in place to avoid this problem.
Should Euphoria Season 3 Include A Time Skip?
Though time skips can be hit-or-miss, Euphoria season 3 would greatly benefit from one. Moving forward in the timeline would eliminate the actor age problem and allow for the cast to continue to play their characters in a way that feels authentic. The show could easily move towards portraying the characters in college or as young adults trying to navigate the world around them. As long as Euphoria keeps its core elements and cast, this time skip should not hugely deter the show or detract from its quality.
