During the red carpet premiere of his new esports-themed film GG (Good Game): The Movie last January 23, lead star Donny Pangilinan said he was over the moon with all the positive feedback the movie has been getting as early as when their first trailer was released.
“It’s a surreal experience. First time ko mapanuod na full-length, with the effects and everything and I’m just so proud of the team. I’m just so proud of everything we’ve gone through. It hasn’t been an easy ride siyempre pero sobrang ganda ng kinalabasan for me and I’m just so happy na nag-enjoy kaming lahat na mapanuod and emotional din. Ang daming mixed emotions na meron. Pero yun lang, sobrang proud talaga ako sa team na ito. Solid talaga,” he said.
In GG: The Movie, Donny plays the role of Seth, a rising talent in the gaming world who joins Tokwa’t Bad Bois, a promising new esports team formed by Kurt (played by Baron Geisler). Along with a mysterious new teammate, the group works hard to fulfill their dream to win the national tournament through an original never-before-seen five-player game called Requiem.
Aside from thanking all his co-stars in the film, Donny also made sure to give credit to all the staff working behind the cameras as well the team responsible for creating the video game called Requiem that he and his esports team competed in during the movie.
“Maraming salamat sa team namin. And I’m just so happy that this is a local film, Philippine made kaya sobrang proud ako. At hindi lang po, yung game dito na nakita niyo, yung Requiem, made from scratch po yan. You won’t see this game anywhere else. It was really made for this movie. So blood, sweat, and tears po ito, literally. Kaya kung may time kayo, please support GG in cinemas. Maraming, maraming salamat,” he shared.

In the almost two hour long film, Donny revealed how he was able to pull off one big emotional scene which really tested his acting abilities.
“Sa totoo lang, sobrang close ko kasi sa great grandmother ko. She passed away a couple of years ago and siya lang naisip ko sa eksena na yun, kung ano mang sasabihin niya kung nakita niya ako ngayon. So that hug, my mom and I didn’t speak the whole time kasi alam namin emotional nun. Pero dun ko talaga linabas lahat. Parang mama ko yun,” he admitted.
