Social media sleuths have sparked wild theories about Miley Cyrus’ security detail following her red carpet walk at the Grammys.
The popstar, 31, attended Sunday’s awards ceremony with a security team in tow. She strutted into the event wearing a custom gold Maison Margiela metal mesh dress accompanied by bodyguard carrying an umbrella and multiple handlers.
But social media users have now suggested that the Flowers singer’s escort was actually armed, concealing his weapon in an umbrella or under a plastic limb.
YouTuber Matt Wallace, who shared footage of her red carpet walk on X and asked viewers to ‘pay close attention’ to her bodyguard, argued the scene at the Grammys ‘is not as it seems’.
He alleged the umbrella was evidence that Cyrus may be ‘in danger’ and suggested that it was part of the bodyguard’s attempt to hide the fact that he was holding a weapon inside his jacket.
But other users hit back, alleging there was nothing unusual about the escort’s accessory and that he was likely carrying it because of ‘heavy rain’ in Los Angeles.

YouTuber Matt Wallace alleged her bodyguard was carrying a weapon. He said there is either a ‘concealed weapon, like a firearm, inside the umbrella’ or that ‘this is a fake hand’. He said that technology used in fake limbs these days is ‘so good you can’t even tell anymore’
Footage of Cyrus’ red carpet walk has so far received more than 38.4 million views on X and over 14,000 likes on TikTok.
A video that Wallace posted to YouTube explaining his theory had been viewed nearly 18,000 times, as of Monday morning.
‘Take a look at the bodyguard’s hand,’ Wallace said in the video. ‘You can see the right hand is moving at a normal rate. The left hand isn’t.
‘In the left hand, there is an umbrella, but all is not as it seems.’
The YouTuber said there are ‘two possibilities’ for the reason the escort’s left hand is ‘not moving at a normal rate’.

He said that ‘based on the fact that (the left hand) is not swaying at the same rate’ as the right arm, it ‘does look like its one of those two’ cases.
The YouTuber added: ‘This is very common’.
Several X users echoed Wallace’s theories, claiming it was very clear Cyrus’ bodyguard was trying to hide a weapon at the awards.

One user compared the umbrella to a weapon featured in the Kingsman films, which saw an umbrella used as a ballistic shield and an improvised grappling-hook.
Another alleged that Cyrus’ security guard had ‘acted so mysterious at the Grammys’.
But many other users branded Wallace as a ‘conspiracy theorists’ and alleged there was nothing more to be seen than a bodyguard carrying an umbrella.
