Joe Alwyn has been left hoping that Taylor Swift isn’t going to diss him and divulge private details of the end of their six year romance on her new album after learning of the title of the LP-
Joe Alwyn is reportedly fearful that Taylor Swift will give away details of their private break-up on her new album.
The actor – who has remained tight lipped about their split personally – will be left “shocked” should Taylor use the break down of their relationship to “diss” him according to sources. Taylor revealed the album – titled The Tortured Poets Department – would be coming on April 19 as she accepted her Grammy award for Best Album on Sunday.
Taylor is well known for penning many of her hits about her love life an after six years with Joe prior to their split there is plenty she could have to write about. However sources close to him have said that he would be left very surprised if the album features any intimate details of their break up.
However, the title does appear to feature one “undeniable” reference to him. Joe has a WhatsApp group chat alongside fellow actors Paul Mescal and Andrew Scott and the group is named The Tortured Man Club. When Taylor uploaded the cover artwork to her Instagram fans rushed to the comments section to speculate over how much of it would be about Joe.
The tracklist for the album has also been made available and there are some telling titles in there. The album has been divided into four sides with tracks as follows; Side A – Fortnight feat. Post Malone, The Tortured Poets Department, My Boy Only Breaks His Favorite Toys, Down Bad. Side B – So Long, London, But Daddy I Love Him, Fresh Out the Slammer, Florida!!! feat. Florence + the Machine. Side C – Guilty as Sin?, Who’s Afraid of Little Old Me?, I Can Fix Him (No Really I Can), loml. Side D – I Can Do It With a Broken Heart, The Smallest Man Who Ever Lived, The Alchemy, Clara Bow. Bonus Track: The Manuscript.
The source told the Daily Mail: “Joe has not said one word about Taylor or their breakup and has been completely respectful of her. It’s undeniable that the name of her upcoming album is in reference to Joe’s WhatsApp group chat. Taylor knocked him for the name of this when they were together. She didn’t want people to think that it had anything to do with her, so when he spoke out about it, she was, of course, bothered.”
The insider continued to express that Joe has “no reason to believe yet that she is going to diss him” or their relationship. They added that she “writes about her past using code and points of reference.” so the seemingly telling title “may just be that she is reflecting on their time together” and that Joe is “hoping it is nothing more.”
The source also admitted that if what Taylor releases is “a diss album” it would be a “shady” move especially as Joe “helped her with song writing on her past album” and that it would “really come as a shock to him” if she talks about their breakup, especially when the subject is “something he has not spoken of at all.”
Joe collaborated with Taylor on ten songs from her eighth studio album Folklore which saw her win Album of the Year at the 2021 Grammys. Joe was also nominated for Evermore. The source concluded by admitting that Joe would remain unaffected by anything Taylor does saying: “Regardless of what she does, he will still not respond because he has removed himself from her narrative and is very glad, he did.”
