Reunion soon? If you’re a fan of ABS-CBN series Mara Clara, then you probably spent weeknights getting kilig over the scenes of then-rising love team Kathryn Bernardo and Albie Casiño, who were each other’s love interests in the show.
14 years after, Kath has gone on to become one of the industry’s biggest actresses—currently flying solo after a highly publicized breakup with her reel-to-real-life beau Daniel Padilla. That said, netizens couldn’t help but *ship* her with other actors, including Jericho Rosales and yes, her OG love team partner Albie.
Albie Casiño Reacts To A Possible Reunion Project With Kathryn Bernardo
In an interview with ABS-CBN News, Albie was asked about his thoughts on the possible reunion. “I doubt that’s gonna happen,” he said. “I’m gonna say that now. Diba parang.. especially since I’m no longer an ABS artist. So I don’t think. I find it weird that people still ask me that.”
ICYDK, Albie signed with VIVA Artists, Inc. last September 2023, folllowing his stint at the Kapamilya Network. He previously opened up about *wanting* to pursue more mature roles—especially sexy ones. “Hindi ko naman kailangan na magpa-sexy. Sexy na talaga ako,” he joked.
As for the possible team-up with Kath, Albie shared that while it’s unlikely to materialize—he’s not closing his doors to anything. “Why would I say no? I don’t say no to work in general so why would I say no to work with her?” he said.
Following the ~*messy*~ controversy with his ex-girlfriend Andi Eigenmann, Albie was booted out of a follow-up series with Kath despite the success of Mara Clara. Andi, who was in a relationship with the actor, had a pregnancy that was made public, and Albie was reported to be the father of the child. It was revealed only in 2016 that Jake Ejercito is the biological father, not Albie.
Asked if he ever felt like he “missed out” on a big career had his team-up with Kath continued, Albie got real: “Imposibleng hindi. I wouldn’t have lost [my] position if a certain person didn’t say something wrong. So I guess that’s why people always ask me if I’m okay. Honestly, I am. I don’t look at DJ and think, ‘That should be me,’” he said.
“Someone ruined something for me, but my life is perfectly fine now. I choose not to dwell on it. I don’t think about the what-ifs because that won’t change anything.”
