Sarah Lahbati opened up about how she juggles being an actress and a mother for her kids, Zion and Kai, following her breakup with Richard Gutierrez.
In her sit-down interview with journalist Dyan Castillejo’s On Cue, Sarah shared more about her motherhood journey, admitting that becoming a mom at age 20 was challenging.
“I was a very young mom, obviously that comes with challenges and difficulties, but it also comes with so much blessings [and] learnings,” she said.
The 30-year-old actress furthered that motherhood has allowed her to learn new things every day.
“As a mom, you always learn along the way, I can do this and do that. You question yourself but with age and through the years, you just grow, you learn, you’re more confident that you can handle anything,” the actress said.
Sarah added ever since she had her firstborn, she wanted to be the “cool mom,” but eventually learned that she has to balance discipline.
“I have to make sure that when they grow up, I would be able to have difficult conversations with them, to be their best friend, but then, no eh. I have to make sure I discipline, I have to make sure I raise kind, humble, and smart, loving boys,” she furthered. “It’s really a balancing act everyday.”
After years of hiatus, Sarah recently made her showbiz comeback with upcoming teleserye Lumuhod Ka Sa Lupa. When asked how she juggles her work and motherhood, she said she makes sure to be organized.
“I found the simplicity of staying organized; Writing down my schedule for the week ahead, writing down Zion’s, Kai’s, and then aligning everything.”
Following her split with Richard, whom she was with for over a decade, Sarah admitted that organizing everything for her kids was hard at first.
“It’s difficult in the beginning, but through time it gets smoother for sure.” She furthered both Zion and Kai are supportive of her career, sharing that the two “love watching [their] shows.”
“Zion is also a creative young man. He is really into film and music, he sings. Both of them love supporting their parents when it comes to their jobs. They love watching our shows,” she said.
As any mom, Sarah admitted that she gets anxious when thinking about the future for her and her kids, but couldn’t be more grateful for her support system to help her in the journey.
“I get anxious also when I think about the future not just for myself, for my children. As a woman and as a mom, you can’t help but worry over the simplest things,” she said.
“But it’s all about shifting perspective and like, okay, let me take a step back, and reassess and you’re suddenly okay. Life is actually good and I’m feeling grateful that I’m surrounded by an amazing support system,” she continued.
After months of rumors, Sarah officially confirmed her split with Richard on March 1. They have been together since 2012 and officially tied the knot in 2020. She previously mentioned that they are yet to process their annulment.
