Ogie Alcasid expressed his desire for a reunion of SOP hosts, now that “It’s Showtime” will start airing on GMA Network.
In a sideline interview during the historic contract signing between GMA and ABS-CBN (via “Saksi”), Alcasid shared that he is hoping to reunite with former SOP co-hosts.
“Maganda magsama-sama kami for a great production number, we can relieve the old SOP days, that would be nice. Maybe nandiyan sina Jolina, Janno, Regine, Jaya. Maybe gagawin ko ‘yun sa birthday ko,” he said.

Given that Alcasid is a former Kapuso, he said he felt nostalgic going back to GMA after he left in 2013.
“Naluluha ako because of joy. Dito ako nanggaling noon, tapos ito at nakabalik ako. It’s an emotional journey. Sino ba ang makakapagsabi? Only God,” he remarked.

SOP is a variety show broadcast by GMA that lasted 13 years. It is the Kamuning-based network’s equivalent to ABS-CBN’s “ASAP Natin ‘To.”
SOP‘s original hosts include Alcasid, Regine Velasquez, Janno Gibbs, Vina Morales, Jaya, Gary Valenciano and Jolina Magdangal, among others.
Meanwhile, it was not just Alcasid who had a trip down memory lane during the “It’s Showtime” hosts’ visit to GMA.
Karylle, who’s also a former Kapuso artist and one of the stars of the original 2005 “Encantadia,” said she felt like it was a “homecoming” when she returned to GMA for the contract signing.
“Personally it’s almost like a homecoming also because I was welcomed back by the Kapuso bosses and I felt talagang very, very special and very, very welcome,” she said, adding that she was excited to meet the next roster of Sang’gres.
“It’s Showtime” on GMA Network will start airing on April 6.
