Kim Taehyung, aka V from BTS, has earned another global achievement for his solo debut.
On April 1, 2024, the iHeartRadio Music Awards was held at the Dolby Theatre in Los Angeles. Founded by the popular radio broadcaster iHeartRadio in 2014, the event recognizes the most popular artists and music over the past year.
Taehyung won the “Favorite Debut Album” award for his debut EP, “Layover,” which was released in September 2023.
While Taehyung has won multiple iHeartRadio Music Awards as a member of BTS, his win for “Favorite Debut Album” marks his first award as a solo artist.
In ‘Layover,’ Taehyung seamlessly blends the classic with the modern, showcasing his distinctive vocal style. He combines his love for jazz, lo-fi, and R&B within the songs, presenting them visually through his vintage-inspired music videos.
Since its release, ‘Layover’ has received praise from critics for showcasing Taehyung’s distinct musical style and artistic vision, diverging from his group’s typical sound and prevailing music trends.
The EP and its tracks firmly secured their positions among the top albums and songs of 2023, recognized by NME, the Associated Press, Billboard, TimeOut, Rolling Stone, Consequence of Sound, and more.
Congratulations Taehyung!
