“Nakakatuwa na I’m really seeing her parang coming out of her shell.”
These were the words of Alden Richards as he described his Hello, Love, Goodbye co-star Kathryn Bernardo based on his recent observations.
“Kita mo sa kanya eh. It manifests. The photos and videos that we see and the projects that she has been doing, really says a lot about her state of mind right now. And the condition of her life right now, she deserves that,” he remarked in an interview with MJ Felipe of ABS-CBN News.
In the same interview, the actor was asked if he was able to connect again with Kathryn recently.
“Nakakamusta naman natin siya and at the same time naman, ‘yung friendship never naman nawala ever since,” he relayed.
Alden and Kathryn headlined the romance film Hello, Love, Goodbye in 2019. Alden played the role of Ethan, a bartender who was in the process of acquiring residency status in Hong Kong. Meanwhile, Kathryn portrayed the role of Joy, a nursing graduate who was working as a domestic helper in the city.
The film became the highest grossing Filipino film of all time before it was surpassed by Rewind in 2024.
In a previous interview with Bandera, Alden expressed his willingness to do a sequel of Hello, Love, Goodbye.
“Ako po… of course Hello, Love, Goodbye naman po made history and ‘yun naman rin po ang gusto ng mga nakapanood, na magkaroon ng part 2,” he said.
The actor added: “Sinabi ko kay Direk Cathy (Garcia-Sampana), sabi ko, ‘Direk kapag gumawa kayo ng part 2 ikaka-cancel ko muna lahat ng schedule ko.”
“But then again, that’s really up to Star Cinema kasi sila naman ‘yung producer and they own the rights of the movie.”
In 2020, Alden also expressed his interest in doing a sequel of the film, sharing his belief that the story of Ethan and Joy has more chapters yet to be told.
“Si Ethan, parang hindi pa niya pinaglaban nang sobra ‘yong love niya for Joy… Siguro sa part two, malalaman natin kung ano talaga mangyayari sa love story nila, but for me, sana pinush pa ni Ethan…sana gumawa pa siya ng mas maraming ways para mapag-stay si Joy sa Hong Kong para hindi na siya umalis, para happy ending na,” he said in a past interview with SPOT.ph.
