Rosanna Roces expressed her regret about losing her friendship with Ai-Ai delas Alas and hopes to put an end to their 20-year rift.
In an interview with Aiko Melendez, Roces admitted that the friendship she built with the “Ang Tanging Ina” actress was genuine and that she is disappointed that it got ruined.
“Kasi ‘yung pinagsamahan namin noon, totoo. Sobrang saya, sobrang nakakatawa,” she said.
The former “Eat Bulaga” host then recalled the reason for their falling out, explaining that it was a misunderstanding brought by a third person.
“Ang totoong pinag-awayan namin, may show kami sa Dagupan. Kalakasan naming mag-show noon. Before ‘yung show namin, nag-show siya with Ara Mina. So, nag-flop yun nang husto,” she said.
“So, ang ginawa ng producer ko, na hindi ko naman alam, tinanggal siya [Ai-Ai] sa poster. So, nung nakita niya siguro, sumama ‘yung loob niya,” added Roces.
Despite the changes in their friendship after the said concert, Roces is thankful that they did not reach the part where they had to badmouth each other.
“Yun na. Nasira na ‘yung samahan namin na sobrang naging personal na. Pero hindi [naman] kami nagsiraan nang grabe, ‘yung ganon.”
After 20 years, Roces still hopes that they can have the chance to patch things up, as she affirmed that she’s not one to hold a grudge.
“Hoping ako na maayos namin lahat. Willing naman akong puntahan siya kahit saan. Pero siyempre, pagka ready na siya. Pero wala na akong sama ng loob or anything like that,” she remarked.
The “Wanted: Border” actress asserted that she believes “time heals all wounds,” as she wishes that they will have the chance to resume their friendship.
“Wala namang hindi naaayos pag tumagal na, di ba? Time heals all wounds. So, pupunta rin tayo diyan. Ang wish ko nga sana makapag-show kaming dalawa ulit. ‘Yung ginagawa namin dati,” she said.
In 2007 in an interview with PEP, Delas Alas remained adamant, saying she would give no comment about her feud or reconciling with Roces.
“Uniform pa rin ang sagot ko…. ‘Pag tungkol kay Osang, parati akong no comment for life,” she said at the time.
