Kathryn Bernardo is enjoying her life as the “captain of [her] own ship” as she opened up about the value of protecting her peace, especially when it comes to finding the balance between her show biz and personal matters.
Bernardo opened up about “protecting [her] inner peace” in a sit-down interview with MEGA Magazine editor-in-chief Peewee Reyes-Isidro, which she noted as one of the lessons she learned throughout her show biz career.
“Protect my inner peace. Alam natin sa (We know in) show biz, it’s not about the glitz and glamor. There’s more beyond that. Sometimes, it can get really tiring,” she said, as seen in a video from the fashion magazine’s YouTube channel.
The actress said being in the company of the “right people” allowed her to remain “grounded,” while admitting that she doesn’t want to be “dictated” in the choices she makes in her life.
“I just learned how to protect my peace and surround myself with the right people to keep me grounded. I don’t want to be dictated kung anong gagawin (with what to do), how I present myself, and what to wear,” she said.
When asked about embracing her life on her own terms, Bernardo said she’s happy to be “in control” without disclosing any incident in particular.
“I’m so happy because I used to be a passenger of that ship. Now, I’m in control. I’m the captain of my own ship now. I’m so excited kung anong mangyayari (what will happen),” she said. “What’s important and what I remind myself is that I’m in control of the steering wheel.”
Bernardo previously spoke about “knowing when to walk away” during her contract signing with ABS-CBN’s Star Magic in February, while reminding her fans about the importance of “knowing [their] value.”
The actress is making headlines after she recently held a housewarming party for her closest friends including “Hello, Love, Goodbye” co-star Alden Richards.
