Actress Kim Ji-won expressed her feelings after wrapping up her long journey with the popular drama “Queen of Tears”
After the drama ended, actress Kim Ji-won, who perfectly portrayed the female lead Hong Hae-in, also delivered her sincere thoughts and feelings through an interview released by her agency HighZium Studio.
Regarding her feelings after “Queen of Tears” ended, Kim Ji-won said, “I filmed this drama for a long time, filling the process with four seasons, so I was very nervous and excited for its broadcast. Realizing that it already ended, I felt a little disappointed and regretful. I want to thank everyone who enjoyed the drama, showed interest in the story and loved it. Health is the most important thing. I hope guys will always stay healthy and happy. Love your loved ones wholeheartedly and without regrets. I’ll greet you guys again in another project. Thank you”.
Revealing that it felt like riding a roller coaster as the drama received so much love, the actress also recalled memorable reactions from viewers. She said, “I immersed myself in the comments by viewers and felt all the moments from their perspective. It was fascinating. I found it interesting to receive so many ‘threatening’ messages, such as ‘Please tell me whether it’s a happy or sad ending’, ‘What are you doing? Why don’t you find a way to get Queens back?’, etc.”
When asked about her efforts to portray a character with such a wide range of emotions, Kim Ji-won said, “I tried to express each emotion clearly. Since some emotions changed so fast, I thought about how to do it smoothly. I prepared for Hong Hae-in hoping that her heart could be fully conveyed to viewers”.
Choosing the beginning of episode 11 as the most memorable scene for her, Kim Ji-won confessed, “I cried a lot while watching this episode. Filming the scene where family members found out about Hae-in’s illness, senior actors were not shown on the screen but they all looked so sad behind the camera. That’s why I was able to immerse myself in the scene. Thanks to them, I really cried a lot”.
Mentioning the shoots in Germany, the actress explained, “I filmed a variety of scenes with different emotions there, from the sweet dates of a newlywed couple to the moment Hae-in saw the divorce paper written by Hyun-woo and the emotional scenes in front of the cathedral. After shooting all the happy and painful memories of Hae-in, I understood the character even more”, adding “It wasn’t easy to complete a wide range of emotions within a short time but we all worked hard to complete it.”
Kim Ji-won shared, “I think Hong Hae-in will remain in my heart as a ‘four-leaf clover’. She overcomes difficult situations and gives strength and hope”, adding “Hong Hae-in is an affectionate person but she’s not good at expressing her feelings. As the story progressed, she tried to show herself better. I hope those parts reach the viewers well so that they could remember Hae-in as a ‘warm-hearted friend’”.
Lastly, Kim Ji-won said her last farewell to the character Hong Hae-in, “You did a great job! I wish you all the best from now on. Thanks to you, I learned how to smile and stand up again in tough situations. Goodbye”
