Rachel Alejandro turned honest and direct on “Fast Talk with Boy Abunda” Thursday as she answered questions about not having kids.
“It wasn’t something I chose,” the 50-year-old singer began. “It just happened that way.”
Rachel explained how life is a series of choices. “Pinipili mo ‘yan, every day, hanggang one day, you wake up and you’re too old to have a baby.”
She turned vulnerable as she recounted feeling “depressed” during the pandemic. “I said, ‘wait. What did I do with my life?'”
When the world went on lockdown and work dried up, Rachel felt like she lost her purpose. “I questioned my choices and one of them was having a family,” she said.
“I thought na parang, would my life have more meaning [if I had kids]? At least meron akong iniisip, iniintindi ngayon na wala akong work,” Rachel said.
She compared her life to parents who were probably going insane at that time. “Granted they probably drove them insane, nagkakagulo sila sa bahay pero may purpose sila,” she said.
“Samantalang ako, nanunuod lang ako ng series,” Rachel continued, laughing.
The singer married Spanish journalist Carlos Santamaria in 2011. According to Rachel, it was her husband who was sure he didn’t want to have kids.
