During her honeymoon abroad with her husband Ryu Sung-jae, actress Han Ye-seul experienced racial discrimination at an accommodation, which she found highly upsetting.
On the 27th, Han revealed on her personal channel that she faced discrimination at the Paraggi Beach Club in Portofino, sparking widespread attention.
In a lengthy post written in English, Han expressed her displeasure, “Do you know the Paraggi Beach Club in Portofino? I experienced such discrimination here and felt really unpleasant.”
As a guest at Splendido Mare Portofino, Han was supposed to be seated at the Terrazza Dior. However, without any explanation or apology, she was placed elsewhere. She detailed the incident with six ‘facts’, stating, “They knew I was a hotel guest and had confirmed the reservation. They told me my seat was fully booked. They said the terrace was not open when it actually was. They claimed bookings only started the day before, which was when I had made my reservation. This was still a fact when rechecked the next day. Only after I complained about the discrimination was I allowed access to the Dior Terrace.”
Fans from both within South Korea and internationally have expressed their outrage and support for Han Ye-seul, particularly distressed that this incident occurred during her honeymoon with Ryu Sung-jae.
