YG Entertainment’s BABYMONSTER holds strong on US Billboard charts for 5 consecutive weeks

In a remarkable feat, YG Entertainment‘s latest girl group, BABYMONSTER, continues to make waves on the US Billboard charts, maintaining a strong presence for five consecutive weeks.

According to the latest chart data released by US Billboard on May 7 KST, BABYMONSTER’s debut mini-album title track ‘SHEESH‘ has secured the 21st position on the Billboard Global Excl. US chart and the 47th spot on the Billboard Global 200 chart.

Since its debut on April 9, ‘SHEESH’ has consistently held its ground, showcasing its staying power in the mainstream pop market. The song initially debuted at 35th and 87th positions on the Billboard Global and Global 200 charts, respectively, and has maintained its impressive rankings ever since, reflecting the growing interest and support of global fans towards BABYMONSTER.

Beyond Billboard, BABYMONSTER has been making significant strides on various global music charts. ‘SHEESH’ has dominated the Spotify Daily Top Song Chart for 36 consecutive days and has secured a place on the Weekly Top Song Chart for four consecutive weeks, accumulating over 68 million streams to date.

The group’s popularity extends to YouTube, where the music video for ‘SHEESH’ surpassed 100 million views within just 10 days of its release, setting a new record as the fastest debut song by a K-pop girl group to achieve this milestone. Within 33 days, the video reached an impressive 200 million views. Additionally, the performance video for the song has garnered over 89 million views and is on track to surpass 100 million views soon.

However, this historic record of BLACKPINK has caused netizens to criticize YG and the Korean media. The reason is that although this is a legendary milestone for a Kpop girl group, YG – BLACKPINK’s management company – has been “dead silent” and seemingly ignored, not making any moves to “show off” the achievements of the 4 girls.

Many people also pointed out that even the Korean media completely ignored this achievement of BLACKPINK. On the contrary, foreign media sites are interested and post articles about this proud achievement of BLACKPINK.

The most recent news that the Korean press reported about the global girl group was the announcement that the MV DDU-DU DDU-DU had reached 2.2 billion views after 6 years of release – helping the group own the MV with the highest number of views in Kpop history.

As for the revenue achievements of the BORN PINK world tour, they have completely “disappeared” from the media. Many people criticized YG and affirmed that if BLACKPINK belonged to another company, this historical achievement would have been widely bragged about as the first and only record of a female artist helping to enhance national prestige.
