If you have been absolutely aching to hop on a flight for a couple of hours and peer out to wonder at the things that are below then do we have a fun little announcement.
While Australians have been able to fly between states and territories during the pandemic, pretty much all of us will have to quarantine in a hotel for two weeks to do so. As a result, most of us have stayed put for the last few months.
But Qantas is putting together a flight that will cover nearly half of the country to help you feel like you’ve gone somewhere.

Miss taking to the skies together? Us too! We’ve designed a special scenic joy flight on board our 787 Dreamliner for those who just want to spread their wings – no passport or quarantine required. Departing Sydney on 10 October, the ‘Great Southern Land’ scenic flight will feature low-level flybys of some of the Australia’s most iconic landmarks including Uluru, Kata Tjuta, the Whitsundays, Gold Coast, Byron Bay and Sydney Harbour. Be quick! Fares go on sale at 12pm AEST today. Click the link in our bio for more info…
Next month, the ‘Flight to Nowhere’ will leave from Sydney Airport and take passengers north to fly directly over the Great Barrier Reef and give everyone a bird’s eye view of of one of the world’s most beautiful natural wonders.
The Boeing 787 Dreamliner, which also conveniently boasts the world’s largest plane windows, will then head west and take you over the Northern Territory until you can gaze at Uluru and Kata Tjuta.
Then finally, the plane will perform a low-fly over of Sydney Harbour and allow you to soak up the views as the sun goes down.
All in all, the flight will take around seven hours and the best bit: you don’t need to bring a passport or have to go through quarantine.

Tickets go on sale today, and seats are limited. There will only be six business class tickets, 24 premium economy tickets, and 104 economy tickets.
This is to ensure that every person gets a window seat – it would be kind of pointless to hop on a plane for seven hours and not see anything except for a couple of movies (but hey, some people might be into that sort of journey).
In addition to all that sight seeing you’ll be doing, you’ll also get a pre-flight breakfast at the Sydney Domestic Qantas Business Lounge, a lunch menu designed by Neil Perry, a surprise celebrity host MC and entertainment, a commemorative flight certificate, Qantas Business pyjamas and an amenity kit, as well as a gift bag.
