As confirmed by popular Twitch streamer Amouranth, you can rake in a hefty sum of cash just by letting people tune in to watch you catch some Zs.
As their name implies, sleep streams involve streamers peacefully dozing off in front of the camera, while the audience either quietly watches on or tries to rouse them by donating money to trigger alarms or play music. Both of which are deeply odd.
This type of broadcast has become a wildly popular category on Twitch, drawing in thousands of viewers who find enjoyment in observing others snooze.
Since Amouranth has already found ways to monetise aspects of her life you wouldn’t expect – like selling her fart jars and bath water – the fact that she’s involved isn’t a surprise.
While appearing on The Iced Coffee Hour podcast, Amouranth talked about the various money-making ventures she had dabbled in over the years, including her hot tub streams, OnlyFans, and bizarre business investments.
But what really blew the minds of the podcast hosts was her sleep streams, something that a lot of people didn’t know about until now.
After breaking down the mechanics of the streams, host Graham Stephan couldn’t help but ask Amouranth about the average cash flow she pulls in from these unconventional sleep sessions.
‘If you count just on Twitch, probably like a couple thousand dollars. But if you count the conversions, potentially, to OnlyFans, while I’m sleeping, then maybe like $10,000 to $15,000 (£7,900 to £11,800),’ she revealed.
The hosts were floored by the astronomical figures and couldn’t help but ask why Amouranth doesn’t stream herself sleeping every night.
She replied that it’s actually quite a hassle to schedule and organise regular sleep streams.
