Despite having an older sister living in another city, Rommel was unable to afford the travel expenses to reunite with her, leaving him to live on the streets and beg for food after completing second grade.
Abandoned by his loved ones, Rommel was forced to halt his education prematurely. However, he always harbored a deep desire to continue his schooling.

The story, which emerged in 2018, quickly spread around the world alongside the image of Rommel peacefully sleeping with his dog in his arms, despite the challenges they faced.
Rommel attests that he has found peace in the presence of Badgi, a homeless dog who also wandered the streets alone. Together, they have become inseparable friends, inspiring each other to persevere through life’s trials.
