Ashley Ortega just won her first international Best Actress award!
The Sparkle star received the recognition from this year’s Harlem International Film Festival for her role in the Cinemalaya 2023 entry “As If It’s True.”
Ashley starred opposite Khalil Ramos in the movie, where they played the roles of partners who stage a relationship with the mutual intent to capitalize on one another. Over time, their fake relationship starts to get a little too real.
In Sparkle’s post congratulating her for her win, Ashley could only comment a heartfelt “thank you.”
Meanwhile, American actor Eric Roberts won the Best Actor award for “My Last Best Friend.”
The New York-based Harlem International Film Festival is a five-day festival “honoring dynamic films by anyone about anything under the sun,” it said on its website.
“Hi is committed to exemplifying the eminence that Harlem represents and is dedicated to bringing attention to the finest filmmakers from Harlem to Hong Kong,” he added.
Ashley recently starred in figure skating series “Hearts on Ice” with Xian Lim.
She is set to star in the upcoming 2024 historical action-drama series “Pulang Araw” alongside Alden Richards, Sanya Lopez, Barbie Forteza, and David Licauco.
Congratulations, Ashley!
