BABYMONSTER Ahyeon is garnering rave reviews on the web because of her top-tier beauty. Is she the new “It Girl” of K-pop?
On March 15, YG Entertainment finally pulled out its “secret card” and commemorated the return of Ahyeon in BABYMONSTER with her teaser photos.
As soon as her pictures were unveiled, her striking beauty made a buzz not only among YG stans, but even other K-pop fandoms looking forward to her debut.
BABYMONSTER Earns Admiration for ‘Face Card’ Worthy To Be Called ‘5th-Gen It Girl’
After their initial pre-debut in November 2023, BABYMONSTER wasn’t able to promote as a group due to Ahyeon’s absence following a health hiatus.
While the other six members were also loved and supported by fans with the release of singles “BATTER UP” and “Stuck in the Middle,” regrets were felt that Ahyeon wasn’t there, who is considered to be the “triumph card” of YG for the explosive reactions she obtained from K-pop fans prior to her debut.
At the time the seven members were introduced, Ahyeon became a hot topic for her strong resemblance with BLACKPINK Jennie in terms of visuals.
The rising star also went viral for her cover performance of Charlie Puth’s “Dangerously,” which certified her singing skills. And now, just her concept photos were enough to send K-pop fans into a frenzy again, which has now over 1.1 million views, 42k retweets and about 70k likes.
This is the highest number among the seven members, considering that her photos were only posted in less than a day.
Fans were blown away by her visuals and just seeing her effortless poses and natural expression, people began claiming that she could easily establish her position as “5th-gen It Girl” with her “face card” alone.
According to fans, she would most likely continue the lineage of K-pop “It Girls,” following Lee Hyori (1st-gen), f(x) Krystal (2nd-gen), BLACKPINK Jennie (3rd-gen), and IVE Jang Wonyoung (4th-gen).
- “Her face alone screams 5th-gen it girl!”
- “Make way for probably the most impactful and influential pre-debut idol ever.”
- “A new queen is coming, her visuals are next level.”
- “Her face card is insane, out of words!”
- “Ahyeon face card never declines!”

On April 1, BABYMONSTER will drop their first mini-album, “BABYMONS7ER,” which will feature all seven members. The album name, in which the letter “T” is substituted by “7,” symbolizes the septet itself.
With Ahyeon’s return, there is high attention on how her influence will boost its performance and recognition in Korea, which has been lacking compared to the global support it’s gaining.
To start, YG is planning to perform various performances including participation in its first music show and fan meeting in Korea.
