On the 15th, YG Entertainment’s new girl group BABYMONSTER appeared on KBS Cool FM’s ‘Park Myung Soo’s Radio Show’.
During the show, Park Myung Soo praised BABYMONSTER, direct juniors of Blackpink, saying, “I met BLACKPINK about 8-9 years ago and I told them they would do well. When I met BABYMONSTER in the waiting room, they had that exact vibe. They seem like they could spark the second Hallyu wave.”
When asked about BABYMONSTER’s strengths, Rora said, “They have a baby-like appearance and a hip-hop vibe when they perform on stage, which I think is a unique trait.” Pharita added confidently, “They have been practicing for a long time, so they have good vocal skills and impressive live performances.”
BABYMONSTER performed their title track ‘SHEESH’ live. Park Myung Soo commented, “Each member excels in their part. How much practice did you guys do? As expected, YG doesn’t just pick anyone.”
Park Myung Soo asked if they had done a survival program before debuting, to which Rora replied, “We did a program to select BABYMONSTER. But we all worked hard and were chosen.”
BABYMONSTER, who are gaining attention as the first girl group from YG Entertainment in seven years following BLACKPINK, also shared their future goals. Pharita expressed a desire to “have our own concert,” and Luca said, “I want to become an artist who is popular worldwide. I would also like to go to Tokyo Dome.”
Rora aimed for the “Best New Artist” award, and Asa said, “Holding a solo concert is my goal. As we accumulate more tracks, I hope we have more venues to interact with fans.” Chiquita also expressed a desire to “try a concert.” Park Myung Soo asked Thai member Chiquita about Lisa’s popularity in Thailand, to which she replied, “It’s absolutely crazy,” and explained Lisa’s unique popularity. Hearing this, Park Myung Soo cheered, “Now it’s going to be crazy because of Chiquita. Dream of becoming the second Lisa.”
Ahyeon hoped to “keep active and healthy with the members for a long time,” and Rami expressed a desire to “reach Billboard No. 1.”
Additionally, the behind-the-scenes story of the song ‘LIKE THAT,’ gifted to BABYMONSTER by global pop star Charlie Puth, was revealed. Ahyeon had covered Charlie Puth’s song ‘Dangerously’ before debuting, which led to a connection after Puth himself commented on the video. Ahyeon shared, “That became the connection, and we received ‘LIKE THAT’ as a gift and worked on it together.”
