Fans were shocked in 2020 when it was confirmed that popular global artists BLACKPINK and Selena Gomez would be collaborating on the track “Ice Cream.”
The iconic collaboration occurred in the midst of travel restrictions due to COVID-19, so the group recorded the song and filmed the music video separately from American actress and singer Selena Gomez.
The artists were stunning in their bright and colorful music video for the fun end-of-summer bop. After seeing their combined star power, fans couldn’t wait until they could finally meet in person.
While the full group hasn’t met Selena Gomez, members Jisoo and Rosé met her at the COACH Spring/Summer 2019 Fashion Show in New York.
Jisoo gushed about her interaction with the American artist on a live broadcast, where she complimented her kind personality.
Selena Gomez? Right, we said hello and took pictures together. I was touched because she was so kind.
— Jisoo
With BLACKPINK ramping up their overseas promotions, fans hoped the entire group would have the chance to cross paths with Selena.
BLACKPINK recently embarked on their 45-show BORN PINK world tour, which has had many celebrity attendees.
With the numerous celebrities who attended BLACKPINK’s BORN PINKconcerts in Los Angeles, BLINKs had high hopes that Selena Gomez would also make an appearance to perform “Ice Cream” live. Rumors swirled that she was spotted at the venue but were seemingly debunked when no photos of the artist and actress were released, and she didn’t appear on stage.
The group did have a special guest artist in LA. During their first of two concerts in California, Cuban American singer-songwriter Camila Cabello performed her song “Liar” on stage with Jisoo.
Today, Selena and BLACKPINK surprised fans again with a group photo, showing that they finally met in person after two years and at BLACKPINK’s concert!
Based on the outfits the BLACKPINK members were wearing, it appears that they met in the Prudential Center at the group’s Newark, New Jersey, concert.
The American artist kept her appearance at the show low-key, seeing as day 2 of their Newark concert took place on November 15.
Additional photos shared showed the warm interaction between the global stars as they adorably embraced upon meeting.
Fans are happy to see the influential artists finally met!
