The schools have gone back, we’re heading back to the office (sort of), and summer is officially over (even if it’s still rather lovely outside)…. so we need something to look forward to.
Well, here you go, because today we have just 100 days left til Christmas! And that means only one thing: yes, M&S – the experts in all things Christmassy and delicious – have got their fabulous new Christmas range beginning to launch into stores NOW!
If there’s one thing that’s going to cheer us up right now, it’s getting excited about all the festive goodies at M&S that make Christmas extra special. We’ve had a sneak peek, and rounded up a little list of some of our favourite new gifts and treats that are in store now.
Read on for an insight into this year’s predicted Christmas trends, from JONSO (all will be explained) to hugs (no explanation needed). We hope it’ll help you plan the best Christmas ever – something we ALL deserve!
Time to celebrate! The new M&S Christmas collection is hitting stores this week and it’s full of fabulous treats, such as these pretty light up bottles of clementine and rhubarb gin liqueur
Gin that LIGHTS UP!
Last year, when M&S launched a clementine flavoured gin liqueur with edible gold leaf, shoppers were so desperate to get their hands on it that queues formed outside shops every time there was a new delivery.
Well, you’d better brace yourself, because this year they’re bringing it back not only in two flavours, clementine and rhubarb, but also in a brand new LIGHT UP bottle. How pretty!
Launching in store this week, the bottle has an LED light in the base which when switched on, illuminates the bottle’s festive woodland scene and flickering edible gold leaf. It’s a brilliant present, only £18, and whether you decide to give it away or keep it as a present to yourself, you’ll be wanting to add it to your shopping list.
Jenny Rea, the M&S mastermind behind the product, says:’ For me, the switching on of the Christmas lights is a huge festive moment, and in honour of this Yuletide tradition we are introducing a showstopping, light up snow globe gin liqueur, complete with edible gold leaf for extra wow factor!’
Jenny suggests serving it on the rocks with matching Limited Edition Gold Conte Priuli Prosecco (£10), or with tonic for a long, refreshing drink.
Singing shortbread!
At this time of year there are so many people you want to say thank you to, and what better way to do that than with a beautiful, collectible tin of shortbread?
These pretty tins are full of buttery shortbread and play festive music when you wind them up
And if it’s as buttery and luxurious – and adorably house-shaped! – as M&S’ shortbread, even better. But what makes this so totally fabulous is the fact it comes in a gorgeous house tin that plays Christmassy music when you wind it up!
It comes in a choice of gold, teal or red – why not collect all three and enjoy the tins long after the shortbread’s finished? And each tin costs just £5 – the perfect present for Secret Santa, your child’s teacher, or just that friend who could do with a treat.
Giant Percy Pigs you can cuddle!
Goodness knows we could all do with a cuddle right now, so the timing of this Giant Percy toy (£25) – the first ever life-size huggable Percy you can buy in store – could not be better.
Ready for a Christmas cuddle? This Giant Percy Pig is a whopping 90cm tall and very soft
A limited edition, he stands at 90cm tall, is pink and plush, and has a lovely beaming smile – what more could any of us want? If you’re buying for a smaller person, how about a slightly smaller Percy? He’s a slightly less huge 60cm, but just as soft and just as smiley, and he costs £15.
Fans of the cult M&S pig might also like a hot pink ceramic Percy Piggy Bank (£10), a Percy Sweet Jar (£15) – a glass jar embossed with Percy’s face and filled with a whole KILO of original Percy Pig sweets. Or how about a Merry Percymas Tin (£5), packed with Percy biscuits sandwiched together with a special Percy flavoured filling?
Great big slabs of chocolate-studded popcorn!
Because what goes better than chocolate and popcorn? The love-child of two of everybody’s favourite snacks, these come in both milk and white chocolate options, with both salty and caramelised popcorn drenched in a thick layer of chocolate.
At £4 each for a 170g slab, we’ll have one for each of our friends, thank you very much! See the picture below for an extra special sneak peek – they’re in stores on 6 October
Perfect with hot chocolate: The M&S Milk and White Chocolate Popcorn Slabs are just £4 each
Christmas trends barometer 2020 (and how to make this year the most fabulous ever!)
If there’s one thing we’ve learnt this year, it’s how much our friends and family matter to us, something that’s borne out by a new survey organised by M&S to see how UK adults were feeling about Christmas this year.
The YouGov survey found that 13% more adults in the UK are ALREADY looking forward to Christmas more this year than in previous years!
Of those looking forward to it more, a third are already excited for the food (34%) and exchanging gifts (35%).
Have a Merry Percymas with this fun tin packed with Percy Pig flavoured sandwich biscuits
Here’s what the experts at M&S say is going up – and going down – for this year’s festive fun!
Going up!
JONSO: Forget FOMO, this year it’s all about JONSO, or the Joy Of Not Stressing Out. Getting Christmas dinner ready is the biggest seasonal stress, but this year we want to prepare food and drink quickly and easily, giving us more time to enjoy with our loved ones.
MINI-MASES: Instead of celebrating one single day, this year we’ll be fully celebrating the whole season, with a string of smaller celebrations rather than just one big one.
HUGS: Because, well, obviously. This is where Giant Percy comes in.
Going down!
STRESS: We’ve had enough of it this year already. No more, we’re going for JONSO (see above).
LAST MINUTE CHANCERS: After lockdown, M&S says its customers have embraced the idea of building up a larder (and freezer!) of everything they need. This Christmas ,it’s all about getting organised and spreading out our festive shopping throughout the season.
SANTA: Yes, he’s taking all necessary Covid precautions and nothing’s stopping him heading down the chimneys this year. Maybe leave him some hand sanitiser, and a handful of Percy Pigs for energy? Happy countdown to Christmas!
