The “A” symbol along with a curved arrow represents the activation/deactivation of the Idling Stop function on a scooter.
For scooters, Idling Stop is a technology equipped with a function to temporarily shut off the engine when the vehicle is not in operation. For models featuring this function, if the scooter is inactive for more than 3 seconds, this technology will activate to temporarily shut off the scooter’s engine.
The indicator for recognizing that Idling Stop has been activated is the letter “A” with a curved arrow surrounding it on the screen, which remains illuminated until the vehicle resumes operation.
This technology is very useful for scooter users, especially those riding in crowded and frequent stop-and-go traffic.
When Idling Stop is turned on, at a stoplight, for instance, the scooter will automatically shut off. When the traffic signal changes to green, simply nudging the throttle will automatically start the scooter again to resume the journey.
Fuel economy is the primary benefit mentioned regarding the Idling Stop feature.
It also aids in environmental protection by minimizing exhaust emissions and noise from the engine when the Idling Stop mode is activated.
When Idling Stop mode is activated, the scooter goes into a temporary idle state, making the engine smooth, without needing to restart from scratch when movement is required.
Usage Notes:
To activate or deactivate the Idling Stop function, you use the on/off switch located on the control panel on the right side.
The Idling Stop will be activated by the vehicle’s central processing unit (ECU) upon starting and the first ride, achieving speeds above 10km/h and an engine temperature above 50 degrees Celsius.
If the side stand is deployed when the engine is turned off using Idling Stop or if the switch moves through the Idling position, the function will be disabled. To restart the engine, the start button must be used. If the coolant temperature is too high (Fi light or temperature warning light illuminates), or the scooter has an electronic fuel injection fault, the Idling Stop will not function.
Idling Stop is a technology equipped in automobiles and common in modern scooters. This technology is designed to reduce the engine operating time when the vehicle is idle or stopped at a red light. The objective is to reduce fuel consumption and greenhouse gas emissions by turning off the engine when it’s not needed.
With Idling Stop technology, under certain conditions (e.g., when the scooter is stationary and there is no signal to continue moving), the engine will automatically shut off and restart when the rider presses the throttle or requires any other movement.
