Marriage is not included in Elisse Joson and McCoy de Leon’s plans in the near future, despite being in a relationship for almost eight years now.
This, as Elisse bared she isn’t convinced about tying the knot yet.
“We want to keep going and to make it stronger. We’re healed. […] Iba na ang ita-tackle naming issues in the future but we know we can handle it better,” the 28-year-old actress declared in a January 2024 interview during a brand event.
Don’t get her wrong, though. It doesn’t mean that their relationship is on the rocks once again. Elisse admitted that they are still building a stronger and more stable foundation for their relationship before taking that next step.
“We’ll get there, last year we want to be quiet about our family and relationship because we want to make it stronger,” she responded when asked about her marriage plans with McCoy.
Moreover, Elisse seems to be keen on making the best decisions now that she is a mother to their daughter, Felize, plus both their acting careers are doing great these days. With all of those happening in their lives right now, Elisse firmly stated that no wedding will even occur between the two of them anytime soon.
“Ang hirap madaliin ang kasal and the foundation is rocky. ‘Wag na muna po, we’re busy building the life of our dreams, tulad ng bahay,” Elisse said.

The couple reportedly separated for a brief moment earlier in 2023. It was allegedly due to McCoy’s rumored cheating scandal.
Elisse shared in a TV guesting that a lot of people among their family and friends helped them rekindle their love for each other at the time. “A lot of people, sa family, hindi naman yan basta susukuan lang agad eh, you have to work hard for it. Kahit anong mangyari, gagawin mo lahat talaga para magsama-sama kayo [at] maayos,” she said.
“I’m grateful kasi ang daming nagmamahal sa amin na nakakatulong din for us to come together, kasi alam niyong maraming sumusuporta sa inyo, maraming nagmamahal,” she said.
McCoy de Leon’s earlier thoughts on marriage
In 2021, McCoy had also expressed some of his honest thoughts about marrying Elisse. Back then, they have just introduced their daughter to the world. With the ups and downs of being parents already, McCoy said they are *not* in a rush to settle down.
In an interview, McCoy admitted that the topic of marriage has came up, but they decided to *prioritize* their daughter first. “Lagi naming pinag–uusapan ni Elisse yan. Pero lagi naming binabanggit sa sarili namin na dapat maging praktikal lang kami. Siyempre, ‘di rin biro ang manganak lalo na ngayon pandemya, kailangang mag-ipon,” he noted.
And just like Elisse, McCoy thinks that ~they’ll soon get there~ prepared. “Darating din naman tayo ‘dun. Kailangan lang siguro talaga naming paghandaan ‘yun,” the actor concluded.
