Fast And Furious 9 Will Go To Space

Fast and Furious 9 will go to space. Yes, really.

The blockbuster franchise has clearly got bored of tarmac, so has tried its hand at zero-gravity instead.

It’s been rumoured for some time that the series would venture out of our atmosphere, with Ludacris hinting at it on more than one occasion.

But in a recent interview with another of its stars, Michelle Rodriguez, who plays Letty in the film, the rumours were pretty much confirmed.

When asked about it on Sirius XM’s The Jess Cagle Show, the 42-year-old seemed shocked that everyone knew.

She said: “Oh, no way. How did you guys find that out? See what happens? People start talking behind the scenes, man. When a movie doesn’t come out and forget about it, things get out. Nobody was supposed to know that!”

But, sadly for Michelle, when she was asked whether or not her character got a chance to head up into space, she said: “No way! Oh, well. No, I’m not, I’m not. I’m not lucky enough to hit space.”

Now, while how much of the movie is set in space has yet to be confirmed, LADbible understands it will be one huge stunt rather than the entire movie. Sorry.

Rumours surrounding the next instalment have been rife for some time.

Speaking last year, the movie’s writer, Chris Morgan, told the Hollywood Reporter he would be up for shooting part of it in space it if it could be done properly.

He told the publication: “I will say – what’s the best way to answer this? – you’ll have to wait and see. Listen, as long as the stakes were set up correctly, then I’m down for whatever.”

This was later compounded by Ludacris, who seemed to let the cat out of the bag while speaking to The Jess Cagle Show back in July this year.

The show’s co-host, Julia Cunningham, was asking the actor about how the films’ writers could wow audiences and step it up from previous films, suggesting the idea of space among other scenarios.

To which Ludacris said: “I will say that you are very intuitive, because you said something right, but I’m not going to give it away.”

When pressed on it further, he tried to play dumb, adding: “I don’t know. I don’t know what you said.”

F9 will land in cinemas on 2 April 2021.
