Female K-pop stars who had the honor of being named at Blue Dragon

Being named at the Blue Dragon Film Awards (hereinafter referred to as Blue Dragon) is a great honor in an actor’s life.

It is even more spectacular with singers or idols. So far, only six female K-pop stars have been nominated or won at Blue Dragon.

Yoona

Born in 1990, this goddess has not won any awards, but she is the female K-pop star who has the most nominations (3): Female Rookie in 2017 for “Operation Chromite”, Best Actress in 2019 with “Exit” and in 2021 with “Miracle: Letters to the President”. Although the chance for Yoona to win this year’s Best Actress is very low, but having the 2nd nomination in the Best Actress category within 3 years is already a pride for her as well as for her fans. Yoona is also the first and only K-pop idol to be nominated for the Best Actress Award at Blue Dragon.

Suzy

Suzy’s only achievement at Blue Dragon so far is the nomination for the Female Rookie Award with “Architecture 101”. This is Suzy’s debut movie that gave her both reputation and qualification. Thanks to her role in the film, the beauty became “national first love” in the hearts of Korean viewers. Unfortunately, Suzy has not had the honor to continue to be named at Blue Dragon since then.

Actress Suzy won the honor of Best Actress in a Leading Role for her first solo starring work.

On July 19th, the 2nd Blue Dragon Series Awards (BSA) took place at Incheon Paradise City. On this day, the Blue Dragon Series Awards were hosted by broadcaster Jeon Hyun-moo and singer-actress Lim Yoon-ah, continuing from last year.

In the drama category, Suzy was selected as the winner of the Best Actress in a Leading Role for her portrayal of Anna in the Coupang Play original series “Anna“.

In the series, Anna, who grew tired of her exhausting life, becomes the object of envy for everyone as she starts living a completely opposite life, receiving attention from people. “Anna” depicts the story of a woman who ends up living a different person’s life starting with a small lie.

Suzy said, “It’s an honor just to be nominated alongside respected senior actors, and I am grateful to receive such a prestigious award. ‘Anna’ was a work that made me both excited and fearful, as it held a lot of ambitions. Therefore, the process of choosing and every moment of filming will be cherished and remain meaningful in my memory. I thank all the staff who worked hard for ‘Anna’ and created unforgettable moments on set. To my colleagues and senior actors who were with me, thank you for your hard work and guidance. I will treasure this award as a representative of everyone involved in ‘Anna.’

On another note, the Blue Dragon Series Awards is the first domestic series content awards ceremony that targets domestically released OTT dramas and entertainment shows from platforms such as Netflix, Disney+, Apple TV+, Watcha, Wavve, KakaoTV, Coupang Play, and Tving.
