Former Super Junior member Kangin, on extended hiatus due to DUI, spotted at Ryeowook’s wedding

On the 27th, a video from Ryeowook and Ari’s wedding ceremony was posted online, capturing attention.

The wedding was attended by the 13 original debut members of Super Junior, as well as members of the Chinese unit Super Junior-M, including Zhou Mi and Henry.

Notably, Kangin, who had been involved in two DUI incidents, was also present. The host, Leeteuk, remarked, “You are now seeing Kangin, who has spent a much longer time reflecting than being active. Please offer him some forgiveness.”

He continued, “Kangin has been reflecting for 15 years. His active period was 5 years, while his reflection period has been 15 years. It’s a happy and good day, so please embrace him, show him love, and help him make a living.”

Shindong added, “It feels great to see everyone smiling and having fun.”After hearing Leeteuk’s words, Kangin stood up and respectfully bowed to the guests.

Some netizens reacted negatively, leaving comments like,

“It seems like he’s been reflecting continuously since 2009, but hasn’t he been causing trouble non-stop?”

“It’s rude to attend someone else’s wedding,”

“I thought it was heartwarming to see everyone gathered, but it looks cliquish,” and “Even if that’s what they think, is it appropriate to say it at a wedding?”

Kangin was first involved in a hit-and-run DUI incident in 2009, hitting two taxis and fleeing the scene, which led to a period of reflection and his enlistment in the military.

After his discharge, he attempted a comeback, but in 2016, he was involved in another DUI hit-and-run incident and received a fine.

In 2017, he was embroiled in an assault case. He voluntarily left Super Junior in July 2019.
