The 47-year-old actress, Charlize Theron demanded to get equal pay to Chris Hemsworth when the duo starred together in The Huntsman: Winter’s War. She played the antagonist in the film meanwhile the latter plays the lead role.
Talking to The Hollywood Reporter, she mentioned,
“I am in a position where I could put my foot down and say, I want equal pay to my male co-star, who I had billed another movie with.”
However, she was taken aback by the response she got from her studio.
“We were doing a sequel, we had done it together, why not? What was interesting about it was I had a studio that said all right.”
She mentioned that women should not be polite in asking what they are rightfully entitled to.
“And I was like, ‘oh? We just need to say this? We just need to not be so polite about it and say what we want’”
Both the stars were paid over $10 million for working in the Snow White and the Huntsman sequel.
Chris Hemsworth Shared His Opinion on Working With Charlize Theron
While the actress has proven her potential with her acting skills, she made headlines for being difficult to work with at the time. When the Thor star was asked whether he had faced any issues working with her, he responded that he enjoyed working with her.
During his appearance on The Kyle & Jackie O Show, he stated,
“No, I’ve been lucky, she’s been incredible. She’s got more force than anyone I’ve ever worked with on and off the screen, in the best way.”
“She’s one of the boys and can swear like any trucker I’ve ever met or worse.”
He even declared her as one of his favorite celebrities which put a positive note on her image. Their 2016 film grossed $165 million with a lukewarm impression on film critics.
