Paltrow talked to Deadline about how long it has been since the actress watched a Marvel film. The actress has largely been on hiatus, focusing on her wellness brand, Goop, with her last film being Avengers: Endgame. She said:
“To be honest, I stopped watching them at some point. I’ve never seen Endgame. I can’t keep track of who’s what. But I probably should at some point”
While one would assume starring in one of the biggest films of all time might qualify the film for viewing, Paltrow’s disillusionment with the MCU and its later films runs deeper than the hype around its films. The actress reminisced about how the first Iron Man film was different from the rest of the MCU, talking about how the film was different from other productions in the franchise.

Iron Man scenes were figured out the day they were to be shot
Robert Downey Jr and Gwyneth Paltrow
Iron Man starred Paltrow as Pepper Potts, alongside Robert Downey Jr. as Iron Man. The film was directed by Jon Favreau, and it was allegedly approached as an indie film. Regarding the production of the feature, Paltrow said:
“We improvised almost every scene of that movie. We would write scenes in the morning in Jon’s trailer. It was like doing an independent film. Then the movie was such a huge hit that then we didn’t make them like that anymore”
Paltrow seems to have her hands full with her wellness company, Goop, giving her less time to think about films and the industry in general. The actress has since moved on from Marvel. When asked if she would take another crack at the franchise, she said:
“I never say never. I’m really happy and busy doing what I’m doing. But if one of my best said, please come and do this, maybe I would consider.”
Paltrow might star again in the MCU, with the biggest contenders being Armor Wars and the ever-looming Avengers: Secret Wars
