We love her sassiness!
IU recently released a special interview on her YouTube channel. The one asking her questions was none other than her mother, the subject of her song “Shh..” from her recent album The Winning.
The two were vulnerable and honest from start to finish. They opened up about a variety of topics in the heartfelt video ranging from sad moments to regrets. Regarding the latter, IU’s mother admitted that she felt sorry for not passing down “good genes” to her daughter.
I don’t think I gave you the good genes.— IU’s mother
She was specifically sad about being shorter than she desired, believing that IU was too small because of her. The singer currently stands at 162 cm (5’4″), the average height of a woman in South Korea.
On her end, the soloist immediately disagreed with her mother, saying that it was “not true” that her genes were inferior in any way. She pointed out that she loves her height and does not wish to be any taller.
That’s not true…you always feel sorry about being short saying, ‘You would’ve been taller if I was just a bit taller than now.’— IU
She agreed with the belief that shorter women are naturally cute—just like her.
“If I was taller than I am now, I would be less cute”. — IU
Her mother teased her, asking if she truly thought so. Without missing a beat, IU stuck by her words confidently.
IU’s Mother: So do you consider yourself cute?
IU: Yes, I think I am cute.
