Actress Janella Salvador shared how she and her former partner, Markus Paterson, have been co-parenting their three-year-old son, Jude Trevor. In the YouTube vlog of news anchor Karen Davila, the Kapamilya star revealed how difficult it was for her when they separated.
Janella and Markus publicly announced their separation in 2022, after being together for several years.
She admitted during the interview that she didn’t accept their decision to separate right away. The Valentina actress shared that she tried to help him in order to keep their relationship.
“Alam naman niya ‘to, I’m not trying to ruin his image and he spoke about it naman,” she said.
The 25-year-old Kapamilya star added that one reason that their relationship didn’t last was due to their age at that time. Both being 22 years-old then, Janella acknowledged that it was supposed to be the time for them to be enjoying their lives just like the rest of their friends.
“We were at the right age naman pero, considered siyempre young pa rin ang 22. ‘Cause those are your prime years when you’re still enjoying your life. Siguro, it took a toll on our relationship when Jude came and he wasn’t prepared for it,” she shared.
“He wasn’t fully prepared. Ako kasi, I always wanted to be a mom and I took it upon myself na once this baby arrives, I’m going to give everything I can. I’m going to raise him to the best of my abilities,” she added.
Janella then revealed that she felt that she didn’t see her image whenever she looked at the mirror. For her, she looked like she aged while she was trying to save their relationship and raising their child.
“Umabot rin sa point na naramdaman ko na parang na losyang na ako kasi I was trying to save the relationship. I was trying to take care of a kid on top of all of that. Ang panget lang ng term pero yun talaga na feel ko. Kapag tumitingin ako sa mirror, di ko na nakikilala yung sarili ko,” she admitted.
Though they’ve parted ways, the singer-actress shared that they both agreed to co-parent their child. Janella complimented Markus for trying his best to be present in Jude’s life whenever he is available.
“That’s something that I appreciate cause I think presence is something that’s very important for a kid that’s growing. Kahit ano pa yung regalo na ipadala mo, kung hindi ka present sa buhay ng anak mo [wala]. Iba talaga yung presence,” she said.
