The fandom of IVE’s Jang Wonyoung has announced their plans to boycott the upcoming comeback of IVE.
On April 4, a huge part of Jang Wonyoung’s fandom declared their intention to boycott the upcoming comeback of IVE.
According to the statement released by a fanbase of Jang Wonyoung, a lot of fans have decided to boycott IVE’s albums and merchandise for the following reasons: “Ruthless schedules, shortsighted activities that don’t consider the future, and malicious posts from China that are left unchecked.”
Via the statement, Jang Wonyoung’s fandom also expressed concerns about the female idol’s exhausting schedules over the past two years as an IVE member, stating, “During those two years, there were several cases of ruthless schedules that were worrisome.”
The fandom pointed out the excessive scheduling issues faced by Jang Won-young, stating, “Wonyoung had to fly to three countries over the course of a week for concerts and fan sign events”, adding, “Despite Won-young’s professionalism, the exhaustion from the schedule, driven by the agency’s greed, was undeniable.”
In addition, they further expressed their desire to see more of Won-young’s personal activities, saying, “Despite the intense schedules, there is almost no personal activity from Wonyoung apart from advertising shoots. We want to see more of her online. We want to see various sides of Wonyoung.”
Finally, Jang Wonyoung’s fandom expressed their hopes that Wonyoung won’t be sacrificed due to the ruthless schedules and urged more consideration for her future, stating, “Despite our protests last year, rumors about Wonyoung are still spreading in China. We can’t stand it anymore, so we decided to boycott IVE’s albums and merchandise.”
“Won-young always brings us happiness, but Starship brings us misery,” and “We don’t want to pay for schedules that don’t consider the members’ health”, they further emphasized.
On the other hand, IVE, the group Jang Wonyoung belongs to, is gearing up for a comeback with a new album on April 29.
