Korean actor Lee Sun-Gyun (이선균), known for his role in the Oscar-winning film “Parasite”, was found dead in a parked car in Seoul, South Korea. He was 48. According to Yonhap News Agency, police received an emergency call at around 10:12am KST from a woman lodging a report of a missing person.
The woman said she lost contact with her husband, who left the house after writing what was assumed to be a will. Reports later revealed the woman to be Lee Sun-Gyun’s wife, actress Jeon Hye-Jin (전혜진), who said she last heard from her husband the night before.
At around 10:30am KST, the Seoul Seongbuk Police Station reported that they found a man unconscious inside a car parked at Waryong Park in Seoul. Police later confirmed that the man in question was Lee Sun-Gyun. Shortly after the discovery, the late actor’s body was transported to a hospital for an autopsy.
Inside the actor’s car, police also found evidence of lit charcoal briquettes, which further suggests that his death may have been a suicide. Since October, the “Parasite” star had been under investigation by the police on charges of illegal drug use.
