Julia Barretto and Joshua Garcia are proof that exes can be cool with each other. Case in point: The two were recently spotted at A Night of A Hundred Stars: The Mr. M Tribute, a party for the seasoned starmaker, Johnny Manahan (aka Mr. M).

In a TikTok video by @phobe.kate, Julia can be seen exchanging pleasantries with Charo Santos-Concio before Joshua comes up behind her with a huge smile.
“Oh my God!” Julia exclaims before pulling Joshua in for a hug. Aww, is it 2017 again, or what?
Charo couldn’t contain her excitement over the two stars reuniting and even expressed her ~*kilig*~. Their reunion ended with the three of them taking a picture together.

In case you need a memory refresher, Julia and Joshua started working together in 2016 for the movie Vince And Kath And James. One year later, Joshua admitted to *courting* Julia during the press conference for their movie, Love You To The Stars And Back.
However, in March 2018, the couple was plagued with relationship problems after Joshua’s Instagram DM controversy and he publicly apologized to Julia. In a separate interview with Boy Abunda, Julia says that Joshua is still trying to regain her trust. “I have learned important things: self-worth, self-value, things I can tolerate, and what I can’t tolerate. I made that clear to him. It was a rough patch but I didn’t put whatever we built in our partnership to waste. So up to this day, he’s still trying to gain my trust. And that’s the truth. He’s still trying to gain my trust. But we’re okay. Accept, forgive, and move on. Life goes on,” she noted.
In April 2019, the former couple celebrated their second anniversary. However, a few months later, Julia and Joshua broke up, with them stating that they are now “best friends.”
Although Julia and Joshua have worked together on several projects throughout the years, fans of the JoshLia love team felt like they finally got the ~*closure*~ they wanted for the former couple when the two starred in the music video for Moira Dela Torre‘s “Paubaya” on Valentine’s Day 2021. (Which they were the co-scriptwriters of, BTW!)
The MV tells the story of two people who fell in love and got engaged. However, the bride leaves the groom at the altar, leaving him heartbroken. The short film’s six-minute closure scene left everyone in ~TEARS~.
Right now, both Julia and Joshua are in happy relationships. Julia has been in a low-key relationship with Gerald Anderson since March 2021, while Joshua has been with Pinay-French golfer Emilienne Vigier since 2023.
Julia and Joshua are definitely proof that you can be friends with your exes—something that Julia herself approves. We’re here for it!
