Julia Barretto expressed hope that the public would give chance to her and Aga Muhlach’s film “Ikaw Pa Rin ang Pipiliin Ko,” in which their characters, who have a huge age gap, seemingly develop romantic feelings toward each other.
The actress showed photos taken from the filming of the romance-drama movie through her Instagram page on Wednesday, Jan. 24.
“Please give our film a chance,” she captioned her post, adding that the film will be showing in local cinemas starting on Feb. 7.
Based on the film trailer, Barretto’s character joined a choir which had Muhlach as its conductor. Muhlach would then seemingly have one-on-one music lessons with Barretto after he discovered that she sings off-key.
The pair become close to each other and in one scene, Barretto attempts to kiss Muhlach but he avoids it.
“Frankly, I’m quite surprised that you’re gambling your professionalism for an affair,” another character tells Barretto, to which she replies, “E ang pogi e. Am I not allowed to like each other?”, while pointing at Muhlach.
Barretto’s comments section was filled with mixed reactions from netizens, with some pointing out how the romantic theme of the film is inappropriate for the characters’ huge age gap, and others expressing their support and looking forward to the movie.
“My Children Who Believe in Your Father,” which was initially titled “Forgetting Canseco,” was helmed by filmmaker Denise O’Hara.
Other cast members include Cindy Miranda, Boboy Garrovillo, Nonie Buencamino, Rafa Siguion-Reyna, Nicole Omillo, Janine Teñoso, Jean Kiley, Mimi Marquez, Taneo Sebastian, Frost Sandoval and MJ Cayabyab.
