With the upcoming release of the newest Viu Original local adaptation of 2018 South Korean hit series What’s Wrong With Secretary Kim, lead star Kim Chiu admits she enjoyed working again with leading man Paulo Avelino, who she was first paired with last year in the ABS-CBN thriller series Linlang.
”Sobrang funny siya dito,” Kim shared during the What’s Wrong with Secretary Kim media conference held last March 9 in Gateway mall in Quezon City. “Hindi na siya si Paulo Avelino.”
“What’s right with Paulo? Everything is going well din sa kanya. He’s very professional. He’s very funny now,” she added. “What’s right about Paulo is he’s being himself and that’s what makes him right.”
Kim admits that having already worked previously together was an advantage for her and Paulo on the set of their new show, where she plays a very devoted secretary to a narcissistic vice-chairman of a company.
“Siguro sa tagal namin dito sa industriya, ngayon lang talaga kami nagkasama ni Paulo mag-work and after Linlang and then ito nasundan kami ng another project, so mas kilala na namin ang isa’t isa,” she said.
Kim admits she can’t explain her natural chemistry with Paulo that their fans enjoy watching onscreen.
“Nakaka-amaze din na marami yung sumusuporta sa aming dalawa which is nagugulat talaga kami. We’re very thankful of course sa suporta online and nakakagulat na sa edad namin na ito meron pang nag-s-ship.’ Parang weird yung feeling pero salamat po. Sobra kaming natutuwa and na-ha-happy. Minsan nagbabasa kami sa X at sabi nila ganito ka daw, ganyan, ganyan. Tapos nagtatawanan lang kami. I’m very thankful,” she admitted.
During the show’s press conference, Kim shared just how close a relationship she and Pau have developed since working on the Viu Original series.
“Si Paulo pogi siya. Alam niya yung ginagawa niya, very consistent siya sa trabaho and then parang we share the same passion when it comes to work,” she shared.
Kim describes Paulo as the ‘low batt version’ of herself.
“Parehas kami ng gusto kaya nakakagulat na merong parang boy counterpart ko na ito bilisan na natin, gawin nating maganda, mga ganyan,” she said. “Iisa lang yung gusto namin pero siya yung low batt version. Ako yung high energy version. So parang nakaka-amaze na makakita ng boy version mo which is siya.”
“Nakakatuwa makatrabaho ang isang Paulo Avelino and mas nakaka-amaze kasi tinanggap niya itong rom-com na genre. So mas napahinga ako sa kanya as an actor dahil kaya niya gawin lahat talaga,” Kim added. “Magugulat talaga kayo dito sa Secretary Kim kung ano yung mga binigay niya. Mas hahanga kayo sa kanya. Nakaka-amaze and I’m happy to work again with him sa project na ito.”
After doing a successful teleserye last year and their new one to become available for streaming this March 18, Kim admits it’s also possible to see them paired on the big screen as well in the future.
“Wala pa naman sa ngayon. Puwede naman as long as maganda yung kuwento. Pero sa ngayon wala muna. Ito munang What’s Wrong with Secretary Kim. Mabusog muna sila dito sa aming dalawa,” said Kim. “Ang concept siguro surprise na lang. kahit anong concept naman yan magagawan yan ng paraan.”
