Although Daesang is a “target” that every actor dreams of, there are stars who expressed their burden after receiving it unexpectedly early.
On March 13th, Kim Soo-hyun appeared on the latest episode of tvN’s “You Quiz on the Block” and talked about the burden of becoming the youngest actor to win KBS Acting Awards’ Daesang (grand prize) at the age of 27 with KBS 2TV’s drama “Producer” in 2015.
Kim Soo-hyun said, “Now that I think about it, it was a good time and I had a lot of things, but I felt like I didn’t enjoy it at that time.” He added, “I’m shy that I’m receiving a lot of love, it’s good to make people laugh and cry, but I think, ‘Don’t I need my real self?’ I think I recognized myself as a person who had to hide. I’m trying to protect my real self, I’m afraid I’ll lose it.”
He said, “I was about 25 years old, and I felt a wall in every interview after the drama ended. I didn’t think I could handle it. I didn’t think anything was enough. I had to do better, be tight, and keep it right. I didn’t allow any incidents or accidents. Since then, I’ve been feeling like I’m pushing my back,” he confessed.
Moon Geun-young was also the youngest to win the Daesang (grand prize) at SBS Acting Awards in 2008 at the age of 21 with the drama “Painter of the Wind.” She said at the time, “Thank you for such a big award. I am more sorry and heavy-hearted than grateful. I want to continue acting, but I am afraid that this award will become my heavy home.”
Later, actress Kim Hee-sun revealed in MBC’s show “Section TV Entertainment News” that “I am the youngest actress to win the grand prize,” adding, “My birthday is later than Moon Geun-young.” Kim Hee-sun also won the grand prize at the age of 21 with SBS’ drama “Mr. Q” in 1998.
