This former girl group member discusses the dark period she had to experience as fellow group mates severely bullied her.
In March of this year, former Jewelry member Cho Min Ah hinted that she was severely bullied by her fellow group mates during their time together. Now, on the evening of July 18th, Cho Min Ah has published a post on her SNS, detailing that the remaining members of Jewelry isolated her for over 3 years.
According to Cho Min Ah, Jewelry members turned her into their “human ashtray”, as they always smoked inside the van and flung cigarette butts and ashes at her. On many occasions, Min Ah’s former group mates also didn’t allow her to ride in the same car, so she had to hitch a ride with dancers to travel to group schedules.
In addition, Cho Min Ah admitted that she used to lie about having a good relationship with her former group mates in fear of the public misunderstanding her. “If I had said I was bullied, I was afraid the public would think I was the problem within the group“, the singer said.
Alongside recalling her experience, Cho Min Ah also condemned the actions of bullies in society, stating, “Those who harm others often ignore the pain of the victims. However, for the victims, the pain lingers on for many years to come.”
Furthermore, Cho Min Ah also revealed that she faced great difficulties after hinting about being bullied within Jewelry back in March. At that time, many netizens accused Cho Min Ah of being an “attention seeker”, to the point the singer developed panic disorder. It is known that prior to that, she also suffered from peripheral neuropathy and circulatory system problems.
According to Cho Min Ah, she used medication to treat her health issues, and later diligently exercised at home. As she noticed improvements in her health, Cho Min Ah decided to stop using medication. Recently, she went to the hospital for a check-up and received positive results.
On the other hand, Jewelry was a popular first-generation Kpop group, which debuted in 2001 and disbanded in 2015. Throughout their 14 years of activity, the group underwent several member changes, with Cho Min Ah joining the group in 2002 and leaving in 2006.
At the time, Cho Min Ah was active alongside Seo In Young, Park Jung Ah, and Lee Ji Hyun.
