Marco Gumabao revealed that he’s open to settling down with his girlfriend Cristine Reyes in the future, although he noted they want to focus on ensuring the strength of their relationship.
During a “Fast Talk with Boy Abunda” interview last Feb. 1, Gumabao said he believes that his relationship with Reyes is for the long haul and they’ve been talking about their future together.
“Of course, basta ang usapan namin is ‘yung future together (we always talk about having a future together),” he said in response to a question about settling down and getting married.
“Pero ‘yung details or kung ano of course konti-konti, pero ‘yung long view [of settling down], ‘yun ang napag-uusapan namin (But the details of the wedding are discussed slowly. But the long view of settling down, that is what we talked about),” he continued.
Meanwhile, Reyes said communication and trust are some of the factors that keep their relationship alive. “Communication, importante po ‘yun. And building trust. Trust is not built in a day — it should be every day. Kailangan niyong pahalagahan ang relasyon niyo, at irespeto niyo ‘yun.”
(Communication is important. And building trust. Trust is not built in a day — it should be every day. You have to prioritize your relationship and respect it.)
Gumabao also noted that God is at the “center of their relationship” while noting that “keeping temptation away” from them is one of the things that should be prayed for.
“Of course, we’re here in an industry where we work with other people and temptation is always there. It should always be a prayer na ilayo ka sa (to keep you away from) temptation,” he said.
Cristine confirms annulment with Ali
During the interview, Reyes also confirmed that she and her ex-husband Ali Khatibi have been annulled for “more than a year” when asked about her relationship with the latter.
“Matagal na (For a long time), Tito Boy. Yes po, like more than a year,” she said, noting that she doesn’t want to public about her previous marital status as it’s something not to “celebrate” about.
“Kasi hindi ko naman siya in-announce eh (Because I didn’t announce it). It’s not something I should celebrate,” she further added.
Reyes and Khatibi welcomed their daughter Amara in 2015 and wed a year later. They were hounded by breakup rumors in 2018, but the actress confirmed their split in 2019.
The “Starstruck” alum confirmed her relationship with Gumabao in April 2013, although the latter always had a crush on Reyes since 2015. Meanwhile, Khatibi is in a relationship with his non-showbiz girlfriend Dona Balmadrid.
